The only proper way to fix the issue described here is to revert that commit. Although I guess we could also make the workaround implemented in that commit more targeted. I think the right approach to fixing the original issue that was resolved by that commit would have actually been to submit a patch to SCIM, not to work around their issue in wine. But now that the patch has been committed, it would require some convincing to revert it again. For that reason, do you have any real world applications that are affected?
