The following patches fix the issue of 

"Symptom 1:
In the Site menu, choose New Site, and the
pop up window is drawn correctly but then redrawn blank;
you have to hide and expose it (or whatever) to get it to draw."

I don't know about the syptom 

wine 2.rc5+patches.
