Diff to work-around the Mesa issue

I believe this is more likely a Mesa issue than a Wine one as I described at
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues/8901#note_1940408. However,
fixing Mesa appears difficult. Is it acceptable to work-around the Mesa issue
in Wine (see the attached diff)?
