There are some FIXME messages from GDI+ about unimplemented path gradient
features, which could account for not drawing the background. Not sure what's
going on with the text, but if it does it's own rendering it could be relying
on the path gradient drawing to set the alpha channel.

It sets a focus scale, which is kind of hard to implement.
