Answering my own question: seems to crash earlier because of precreated
registrykey 
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v2.0.50727]
"Version"="2.2.30729"

Setting it back to 2.0.50727 brings up the old msi-error again
