SDL removed the demo from their website, each version can be a demo so SDL could send you a demo if you want - just have to ask them. One things that came up to my mind to get that far: I have *all* windows font installed on my linux box (I did it to get all Windows fonts to work on Open Office for a better compatibility). It may be needed to get that far.
