I did winetricks fontfix and winetricks fontsmooth-gray. I did not have FreeSerif 14, so I used Liberation Sans 14. The changes persisted after closing Dragon bar and Notepad. I reran Notepad and Dragon NaturallySpeaking a few times. All looks nice and smooth. Thanks for the suggestion of using fontfix. Notepads default font looks rather jagged. Perhaps you are running Notepad from within a different WINEPREFIX than Dragon Natually Speaking. This can happen if Dragon Natually Speaking was installed into a different WINEPREFIX than the default .wine.
