oh, and got a bit further again using native wininet:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="ole32,usp10,msvcrt,wininet=n" wine  ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\
Files/Google/Google\ Earth/GoogleEarth.exe
Now the program doesn't crash anymore but shows the attached screen. In the
console i see:wine: Call from 0x7fcbbe0c to unimplemented function
ws2_32.dll.getaddrinfo, aborting
