I have been playing every day for many hours now. NOTHING happened. It did NOT
lock up. I noticed something new.. instead of the old 2 - 3 minute lags I now
get 2 - 3 SECOND lags. Not worth complaining about, my TF2 is 100% playable
again.

Using Wine 1.2 (the final release, not RC) and the Steam beta did the trick for
me.
