I confirm original subject. Gentoo amd64, wine 1.3.3.
HL2, Episodes 1 & 2 silently exit after "loading" progress bar reaches 100% and also when I try to assign different key (F5 instead of F6) to QuickSave.
Lost Coast works perfectly. All games successfully play scenes under main menu, with sound.
I can confirm exactly the same behaviour on Fedora 13, Wine 1.3.4, Linux 2.6.34.7-56.fc13.i686.PAE.
