That's what Fabian's patch does, although only for a limited number of cases.
I'm not necessarily opposed to such a patch, but it would have to be done
properly, and I'm not sure if that's worth the effort. EXT_provoking_vertex
should be trivial to implement for drivers, and the amount of applications
affected by this is rather limited.
