Why do you think this is a d3dx bug? Does it help if you use one of the native
d3dx9_xx.dll ? Which exact version is the game using? Are you really sure this
is a d3dx9 bug? (see http://bugs.winehq.org/describecomponents.cgi?product=Wine
for details)

What's your graphics card? How much memory has your graphics card?
