Can you reproduce the problem with the demo version as well? (the demo version requires Win98 mode to run). http://www.fileplanet.com/29730/20000/fileinfo/Dungeon-Keeper-2-Demo DK II v1.7 runs without problems here, using a Nvidia gfx card with the proprietary driver 290.10.
