The plugin "Columns UI" (aka "foo_ui_columns.dll") [1] causes the error: "The program foobar2000.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close." to appear. This occurs with multiple versions of the plugin (0.3.8.8, 0.3.8.6 and an unknown version dated 2010-11-11) and foobar2000 (1.1.6 and 1.1.8) [2] and has only begun since an upgrade from Ubuntu 11.04 to 11.10. During this time Wine was also upgraded from "wine1.3 (1.3.29-0ubuntu1~ppa1~natty1)" to "wine1.3 (1.3.30-0ubuntu1~ppa1~oneiric1)" via a PPA.
