here my list:
 * Start with tests
 * merge Patch 1 & 2
 * is symlink(), readlink(), unlink() portable? I bet they are, but why are we
checking for them in configure?
 * IO_REPARSE_TAG_MOUNT_POINT? why not e.g. IO_REPARSE_TAG_SYMLINK?
 * Patch 6 looks suspicious, but I’m not familiar with the code.
