Perhaps you're right, but in a different way:
with WINEDEBUG=+dsalsa I seem to always get:
trace:dsalsa:wodDsCreate driver created
warn:dsalsa:wodDsCreate MMAP not supported for this device, falling back to
waveout, should be harmless

so those changes have probably no effect after all.
