[Bug 18985] access violation in html-kit

Still present in 1.1.42 and git.

A little observation: after closing several of those access violation dialogs,
it eventually produces a different error message - "list index out of bounds
(0)". After closing quite a lot of error dialogs, they eventually stop
appearing and the program becomes usable again, at least to an extent.
