I guess you did have Hardware Acceleration turned on here. What can be the problem then? I am consistently experiencing this issue with my Radeon HD4890 and the catalyst 10.3 drivers. Could it be the drivers?
I'm not 3d guru so writing here about ATI would be only a speculation. And yes, as in bug 22730 everything checked in Graphics Options, including Hardware Acceleration.
