That's not really a fix. Let's diagnose this properly:
a. What Linux distro / Video card / Video driver are you using?
b. Can you reproduce the problem with the sins demo?
This is more of a workaround, i was incorrect in calling it a fix. I can say that this problem has happened on several linux distros including gentoo and fedora (8&9), i'm not sure what nvidia drivers where used, but there were multiple versions.
