I've had a conversation with someone over Steam friends, and they said they described it as "cuts out a lot." In game, I try saying something every so often but never get a response, and one or two people have said they don't hear anything when my "exclamation mark" is up. I'm not sure whether this is because the output is perhaps too quiet or because it's not making any sound at all.
