Is there a demo of 2005 or 2008, and if so, can you verify that the problem exists with those demo versions?
Afaik, the demo versions are *exactly* the full versions, you shall just leave the serial number as 000-00000000 as proposed.... The problem is that on autodesk site you'll find just the latest (2009) which doesn't run nor install for sure. You can find the 2008 here : http://www.brothersoft.com/autocad-51230.html They've also the 2006 and 2007, but both have other problems. 2006 installs (IIRC) with same regostry problem.
