This is the case for instance for all the VM host configuration settings ($MaxRevertingVMs, $MaxRevertsWhileRunningVMs, etc.), but also $JobPurgeDays, $RegistrationQ, etc. This is not very practical and prevents experimentation or quickly adjusting the settings when a problem arises.
