I can confirm this behaviour with Wine 1.1.22.
- Shell execute on a PDF file does not invoke the native Linux PDF Viewer.
- Shell execute on a HTML link does not invoke the default Linux Web Browser.

Distros tested:
* Ubuntu 9.04 (Wine 1.1.22)
* SUSE 11.0 (Wine 1.1.22-2.1)
* Fedora 9 (Wine 1.1.14)
* Linux Mint (Wine 1.1.22)
* Mandriva Linux 2009 (Wine 1.1.22)
