The demo appears to be broken in a completely different way, unfortunately.
There's a version on GOG, but this isn't the version I tested (I tested the CD
version): https://www.gog.com/game/journeyman_project_2

I have the GOG version too, let me try installing that and seeing if it
reproduces.
