Fails for me in 1.2. telnet'ing in connects, then if you issue any command,
closes.

Trying the testfile:
Connecting to server localhost[127.0.0.1]: 5119...
connect error: Connection refused
No stream found to handle url mms://localhost:5119/mediaroot/test.avi


Exiting... (End of file)
