If you change in the patch
hr = get_runtime_info(pwzBinary, pwzVersion, NULL, 0, 0, FALSE, &result);

to

hr = get_runtime_info(pwzBinary, pwzVersion, NULL, 0,
RUNTIME_INFO_UPGRADE_VERSION, FALSE, &result);

It gets a little future but still shows the exception dialog.
