well skip my comment regarding "which Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 redistributable
package are you using?", I missed the URL in bug report ;-)

The download there *is* the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package
(x86) RTM version as shipped with Microsoft Visual C++ 2005.

No problems installing it.
Again: where do you see the crash?
There is no console message related to a crash...
