Wonder what compiz has anything to do here? Does it mess with events? I can't
find anything wrong so far. All the places I've looked at all report mouse
events properly and modifier states all look right too (both in the server in
x11.drv). 
So if you are saying this works fine without compiz - I'd say file bug there.
