Figured out what type of fields this is happening to:

Data Entry type = Field Box

Interesting "Field box & list" works correctly.  I changed one notorious box to
"Field box & list" and it correct the problem.  Changing it back brought back
the problem.  (You only want list boxes in certain situations.)

If you wish, I can throw you guys together a simple demonstration database (I
know you guys do not like unknown stuff uploaded for security reasons).
