This still affects me. Do you have any idea about what could be causing this? Do you do anything differently to start the game?
I completely reinstalled the game, removing every single content file labelled with garry's mod. (I will list these in a later comment when I have access to the machine with gmod on) I installed on a windows machine and just ported the files over via LAN and now everything works fine.
