The window still blanks if the application is installed normally, and then ran over ssh, but if it is installed over ssh and run normally (or over ssh), the bug does not appear. As a total guess: perhaps Wine is sensing that something is missing from the ssh session's display that isn't missing from the X session's display, and disabling it, avoiding this bug. No idea how to debug further as I have no idea what kind of checks Wine performs when creating a fresh wineprefix.
