There's a reason I don't support this - debian unstable is a moving target. Since you're on Debian unstable, I'm pretty sure that things have only recently become multiarch there - hence the reason this Wine broke and not previous ones. I'm 99% sure if you installed the Wine 1.1.22 package at this point you'd run into the same issues. Ubuntu won't have proper multiarch support until Karmic, though I can't guarantee the Karmic Wine packages will work on Debian either.
