You are using version 10.4, is that correct? The wine readme says "Mac OS X 10.4 or later" is needed. So maybe no one tried such an old system, yet? I'd also say it's invalid, because it's not plain wine. But there might be a bug in the configure script which might detects a wrong version of the header file and makes a wrong assumption. The functionality was added in cd454fdc2ed6c4a8b432dd4617fb61949c786087.
