I can confirm this is NOT a bug in Wine but more likely in newer NVidia drivers (maybe in the game itself) as I also get a grey screen and game quitting when tryng to run it in native Windows XP (you should use a card tweaking tool to change this behavior). So I agree and suggest this should be marked INVALID.
