Regression test is to know where the problem start. Not sure i have time to
compile wine myself now but i have try a lot of versions and problem start with
wine 3. Every wine 2 versions don't have this problem.

I have read somewhere (on wine if i remember well) that wine 3 changed
something about input managment and a fix / command to force input was give in
this link but i can't find it again.
