It worked for me now as well. Before I was just clicking in another window and then back. I shall see if it continues to work properly. It could be fun however if this could be fixed, so that fullscreen play could be enabled for the game.
My workaround for that was to use Ctrl-Alt-+ and Ctrl-Alt-- to change the X resolution, then moving the mouse to line the viewport up with the window.
