Actually, setting the Wine Windows version in the configuration to Win 3.1, Win 95, or Win 98 should work in Wine 0.9.46. What version of Windows do you have Wine configured to run as?
Does it run on windows 2000/XP (actual windows, not wine setting)?
Found an old note that leads me to believe it had to be run in compatibility mode for 2000/XP (actual MS Windows, not wine setting). That makes me think behavior is exactly the same as with MS Win OSes.
