Well, given that the latest version of ReadConsoleInputW() handles
lpNumberOfEventsRead with code like this:

if (lpNumberOfEventsRead) *lpNumberOfEventsRead = idx;

...I'd say yes. But I'm not in a position to actually test this any more.
