Wait, I'm blind. I found the problem:

fixme:quartz:MPEGSplitter_query_accept MPEG-1 system streams not yet supported.

Unfortunately, installing ffdshow doesn't fix the problem because quartz still
doesn't support such streams. Installing native quartz causes a crash.

Either way this is a duplicate of bug 9127:
