Now, if you still want my initial guess in this case, commit 800b5e44fc3106930b424ffa852699e499da1993 and the short series starting with c179b269abd8cf8b9bcb1dcb4bd38c697b690097 seem like a good place to start - something seemingly simple (and on most desktops likely is so), but just potentially racy on laptops.
