Try to reinstall the OpenGL drivers, probably they are broken by kernel or some other update.
I did "sudo apt-get install --reinstall nvidia-current" and I must say that you were right. Probably Natty updates just jeopardized the OpenGL drivers. I'm changing it to resolved/invalid also.
