However, switching to windows 2000 compatibility mode AND installing the patched user files (the GOG game plus wine puts the sav files in /Users/<username>/My Games/Myst V End of Ages ) in the GOG location, the windows XP location, and the windows vista/7 location for good measure, I'm still getting the access violation error. It is clear, though, that they must be related.
