[Bug 23048] Unreal Tournament 3 fails and locks up

I installed the demo and patched (see here for details:
http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showthread.php?t=185087), but still no joy - it
crashes after the initial splash screen.

I also upgraded Crossvoer to the latest version 12.5.0, reinstalled UT3 (the
full version) again from Steam and it still hangs at the CD key screen.
Any ideas what else I can try?
