Thank you. It worked: I uninstalled version 1.6 and installed 1.8, re-installed the .exe with WINE and it's running great so far.
Any idea why the Mint distro only makes available WINE 1.6 through its software manager? I keep my system up to date, but WINE never updated via the standard system processes.
