I cannot corroborate Anton Vorobyov's report that this bug exists in EVE when wine virtual desktop mode is enabled. For me, EVE works while in regular fullscreen mode - text appears in EVE, not in the console that launched it. Are you sure 'emulate a virtual desktop' is not enabled in winecfg->graphics?
I'm totally sure that bug reproduces in both cases in its 'EVE-below-gnome-panels' part.
