No, you don't get off that easy:

In 1.9.21 on Ubuntu MATE x64 16.10, I get only a black screen when launching
the game. Steam overlay works, but the game itself never responds.

Also, 3 users have confirmed the issue. Can someone please advance the state
from UNCONFIRMED, unless the states are meaningless?
