I think similar issues may have existed when I last attempted to play startopia many, many releases ago, but I can't remember anything from back then. You can probably reproduce the issues with the demo version, though it seems the 1.01B patch changes the initialization behaviour a bit, so you'll have to edit the CardID.Tom file, so the 'Unknown' section contains these lines so you get the renderer into a similar state to what I have.
