The game doesn't fail anymore. I was just testing it earlier with the highest graphical settings (sans DirectX 10) without using any winetricks or native dll bypasses. Is it possible that check for DX10 no longer occurs because the game is respecting the wine windows version setting of "XP"? Regardless, the game no longer fails.
