I seem to have found the issue. Looks like most distro's will be breaking
homeworld here fairly soon. http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=208343 A
security patch has broke the game in the xorg-server. What I did is in Gentoo
Xorg-server 1.4.90-r3 has the patches mentioned in the bug, and I downgraded to
Xorg-server 1.4.90-r2 and the game works.
