With the attached patch the white squares are present. (In case the commented block should be commented)
Thank you very much for your testing. I am sorry I made a stupid mistake in an attempt to make the patch work regardless of settings for testing, so the first version actually required the HKCU\Software\Wine\Direct3D key to be present for the patch to be active.
